St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital was founded by Danny Thomas in 1962 with the goal of changing children’s lives. He wanted every family to be able to seek treatment from the best doctors and researchers regardless of their ability to pay.

Today, thousands of families go to St. Jude to receive treatment and will never receive a bill for their treatment, travel, housing, or food. The hospital continues to “advance cures and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment.”
